SHEPHERDSVILLE – Looking for a way to combine the county’s rich history with a desire to bring activities to keep people closer to home, the Wine Whiskey and Ale Fest was born.
The Shepherdsville First Street Park will be the scene of the first annual event Apr. 27, sponsored by the Shepherdsville-Bullitt County Tourist and Convention Commission and the city of Shepherdsville.
Activities will run from 3-8 p.m. in the park.
Shepherdsville Community Planning and Development director Amber Odle said there would be a variety of vendors providing products to taste and to purchase.
Those will include James B. Beam, Four Roses, Gallant Fox Brewing, Brooks Hill Winery, Forest Edge Winery, Millanova Winery and Wight-Meyer Winery.
There will be a $10 tasting ticket available with proceeds going to the Turnaround Resource Center. Those tickets can be purchased at the site in the Turnaround Center booth for $10, which will allow tasting at all the products.
There will be 11 food trucks on the site.
And there will be live music. Performers include: Triple Play from 3-5 p.m. and Joey Constantine from 6-8 p.m. Both will be in the pavilion.
Louisville Water will have its Pure Tab booth to provide liquid refreshments to those in attendance.
There is plenty of free parking and Odle said people are welcome to just come out and enjoy the afternoon.
She said this is just another event that the city leaders want to provide to allow local residents to enjoy activities without traveling to other areas.
Events such as Shakespeare in the Park and the Food Truck Invasion are planned over the course of the next month.
During a recent meeting of the tourist commission, tourism director Troy Beam felt it would be a great event for the community to see local vendors show off their products.
